Bee Gees, Yvonne Elliman - Saturday Night Fever Special Disco Version 12, Promo, Unofficial, Gre. RSO Records, Inc. PRO 033. If you haven't heard the special disco versions, here's some info : only the version of Staying Alive is a different version : an extended version with added horns. Nicely done btw. The other mixes are disappointing, I'm afraid : in order to extend the songs, parts of the songs were repeated and erm. glued together so to speak and not always in a professional way. Bee Gees. It is one of the best-selling albums in history, and remains the biggest selling soundtrack of all time selling over 45 million copies worldwide double disc album. In the United States, the album was certified 16 Platinum for shipments of at least 16 million units. The album stayed atop the album charts for 24 straight weeks from January to. Stayin' Alive - The Bee Gees. The SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER soundtrack is a must for any music collection. One of the best selling movie soundtracks of all time, next to The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album, it's filled with hits produced and written by the Bee-Gees and others. I don't think there's a bad track on this album and the remastering sounds good. Saturday Night Fever, as a movie and an album, plus a brace of hit singles off of it, suddenly made disco explode into mainstream, working- and middle-class America with a new immediacy and urgency, increasing its audience ten-fold overnight. The Bee Gees had written Stayin' Alive then called Saturday Night, Night Fever, How Deep Is Your Love, If I Can't Have You, and More Than a Woman for what would have been the follow-up album to Children of the World, and they might well have enjoyed platinum-record status. well as artists, with their work recorded by Yvonne Elliman

Reseñas del Bee Gees / Yvonne Elliman - Saturday Night Fever (Special Disco Version) (14):

The recording of " If i cant have you, is bad, has no bass, TERRIBLE. BUT I HAD LUCK AND I FOUND A SINGLE WITH, if i cant have you, WHERE THE RECORDING IS PERFECT, POWERFUL BASS.
Llallayue
Hey Genius, why would you buy a RARE 12" promo for THAT song? There are 4 other incredible songs on here, in extended format.
Samulkis
Such a shame that there wasn't a better effort to do a respectable 'special disco version' of these songs considering how monstrous the movie and soundtrack turned out. 'Stayin' Alive' is the only thing worth forking over whatever it's going to set you back on discogs or ebay. However, 12-inch singles were not widespread or elaborately produced/remixed back in 1977. So, this has to do.

Regarding "If I can't have You" (as another reviewer mentioned)-- At 2:16 it cuts back to right before the 2nd verse, and then repeats it. The edit itself is off by a couple of beats--really bad, then you get to hear the 2nd verse over again...why?
Balladolbine
there are longer extended versions that are unreleased i like better. too bad it's not released commercially.

yOU Don't mean the J. Michaels mixes right? The vocals are too low.

It was released earlier this year for record store day on a SPECIAL 12".

All mixes are fine apart from the Yvonne Elliman which is dreadful. Such a shame because I love this track!

Same exact mix, different edit of it. At 2:16 it cuts back to right before the 2nd verse, and then repeats it. The edit itself is off by a couple of beats--really bad, then you get to hear the 2nd verse over again...why?

True, as the previous reviewer states, many of these "Disco-Version" cuts simply had looped pieces "edited-together" to make it appear as a longer version, some of them hastingly done, but not EXTREMELY poorly done. Case at point, "Stayin' Alive" actually featured a slightly different mix, at a slower speed (oddly enough, since it is billed as a Disco Version, whereas most disco versions are speed-up). In the this mix, the sound level of Barry Gibb's acoustic guitar is lowered drastically and a horn vamp is bought in at where the first vocal bridge-refrain is normally at. Also, where the songs normally fades, at the beginning of the 4th ending refrain, the second part of that refrain is completely edited out, and the "horn piece" is brought back in a second time, via an loop-edit. Next, "Night Fever" is slightly speed-up and has simple edit-loops done to create a longer version, of about a minute or so, some of the edits sounding sort of "hacked" and "chopped" poorly. "More Than A Woman" is also speed-up very slightly, uses the same kind of editing/extending technique of "Night Fever", but if one listens to the VERY END of the fade-out, the song uses an slightly alternate mix of the vocal track; Barry's add-libs are more "up-in-the-mix" than the album version. (On a side note: The version of "More Than A Woman" that was featured in the actual film, during Travolta & Gorney's "Love" dance on the floor, features a very beautiful & lush alternate string arrangement on the SECOND verse only. This take was NEVER released on any audio recording medium, as far as I know). "If I Can't Have You" used it's traditional speed, but featured an EXTREMELY BAD edit to cut back in the horn & string musical bridge, for a second time. The edit was SO BAD, it cut into the whole timing of the song and clipped out a whole half-measure. The editor of this track CLEARLY does understand the timing a rhythm section keeps while recording! Lastly, "You Should Be Dancing", features the same version that was released previously on a 12" DJ/Radio-Only Promotional Record. Like "Stayin' Alive" this version was slowed down a bit (oddly enough), but received the same mixdown as the traditional version on the "Children Of the World" album, EXCEPT the album version contained 1 refrain in the first chorus, 2 in the second and 2 in the third, whereas this "Disco Version" features 2 refrains in the first chorus, 2 in the second and 3 in the third! All of which, where not "falsely" edited in as loops, but were actually "edited-out" of the official "Children Of The World" album version! This I quite never understood, why producers Richardson & Galuten did this, but it sure made for good critical reviewing & listening, of this AND all these "slightly" different "Saturday Night Fever" cuts & versions.
