Trans-Europe Express German: Trans Europa Express is the sixth studio album by German electronic music band Kraftwerk. Recorded in mid-1976 in Düsseldorf, Germany, the album was released in March 1977 on Kling Klang Records. It saw the group refine their melodic electronic style, with a focus on sequenced rhythms, minimalism, and occasionally manipulated vocals. Finally i've found the original german studio version which i find much better than the english one. All rights go to Kraftwerk. Written by Ralf Hütter. Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей. Trans-Europe Express is the sixth studio album by Kraftwerk Seventh if Tone Float is counted, following Radio-Activity and preceding The Man-Machine. After the release and tour for the album Radio-Activity, Kraftwerk continued to move further away from their earlier Krautrock style of improvised instrumental music, refining their work more into the format of melodic electronic songs. During the tour for Radio-Activity the band began to make performance rules such as not to be drunk on stage or at. Although Autobahn was a left-field masterpiece, Trans-Europe Express is often cited as perhaps the archetypal and most accessible Kraftwerk album. Melodic themes are repeated often and occasionally interwoven over deliberate, chugging beats, sometimes with manipulated vocals the effect is mechanical yet hypnotic. But with Trans-Europe Express, they set out to reinvent a different legend: that of Europa itself. In the process, they changed pop music forever. In 1976, as the group was beginning work on the album, a friend casually remarked that its music was like electronic blues, and suggested it do a song about the Trans-Europe Express. Kraftwerk structured the album around the concept of a train moving across a continent that was rapidly becoming borderless and digital. The themes of Trans-Europe Express were influenced by friends who suggested writing songs about the Trans Europe Express to reflect Kraftwerk's electronic music style. Critics have described the album as having two specific themes: celebration of Europe and the disparities between reality and image. Musically, the songs on this album differ from the group's earlier Krautrock style with a focus on electronic mechanized rhythms, minimalism, and occasional manipulated vocals. Trans Europe Express is the electronic album that launched thousands more everyone from David Bowie to Afrika Bambaataa to Radiohead has cited this album as an influence. In its 2009 remastered incarnation, Trans Europe Express gains in clarity and depth, and reinforces the fact that this 1977 album was decades ahead of its time. This was the album where Kraftwerk began to manipulate not only their sound, but their look.
