Álbum

Surfing on Sine Waves is a studio album by Polygon Window, a pseudonym for the English electronic music producer Richard D. James, better known by the alias Aphex Twin. It was originally released on 11 January 1993 by Warp. It is the second release in Warp's Artificial Intelligence series. The opening track, Polygon Window, plants its feet firmly in both camps, with a brisk series of beats playing against the slightly dark, slightly quirky keyboard sounds with which the Twin first made his name. It's a good harbinger for the rest of Surfing on Sine Waves, which satisfies, if not always astonishes, like Aphex does at his best. Surfing on Sine Waves is rarely rated with the Selected Ambient Works albums or the early singles collected on Classics, but it's still a key record from the era that put James on the map and began the myth-making that would mushroom to Howard Hughes proportions around the time of the Windowlicker single. Listening to Surfing on Sine Waves in the context of electronic music circa 2002, I get an idea what it must have been like to listen to Buddy Holly in 1970. Naturally, there are both positive and negative aspects to re-experiencing artifacts from an earlier time. Album 1993 11 Songs. Surfing On Sine Waves Polygon Window. Sure it is all quality, and some if it is mighty fine the haunting melody on Polygon Window taking turns with the memorable acid lead, the forceful and driving opener, the quiet ambience of Quino-Phec. The rest is skip material in my book. A cool sequence here and there, some occasional playful acid synths and lush pads aside, Surfing on sine waves does not have much in store for my ears.
