Rabies is the fifth studio album by Skinny Puppy. It was released on November 21, 1989 through Nettwerk. The album spawned two singles, Tin Omen and Worlock, the latter of which becoming one of the band's most recognizable songs. The cover art was made by longtime Skinny Puppy collaborator Steven R. All of the trademark Skinny Puppy elements are in place: Nivek Ogre's snarling vocals, snippets of dialogue from sci-fi and horror movies, and symphonic, chugging synth sounds. At least four of the album's 11 tracks are perfect examples of Skinny Puppy's sonic attack. Rodent is monumentally menacing, with Ogre's vocals giving the impression that they've been growled through a megaphone that's been recorded from a microphone at. Skinny Puppy - Rabies review: Despite what you might have heard, this is not the great Skinny Puppy release that you must listen to if you like Industrial music. Although this album contains the best song to bear the Skinny Puppy name Worlock, the rest of the album consists of two good Industrial Metal songs, three average songs, and five songs that arent worth wasting your time on. About Rabies. Released in 1989, Rabies is the fifth album by Skinny Puppy. The album is notable for the involvement of Al Jourgensen of Ministry fame and its new sound aspect: introducing guitars and a harder speed metal element towards the bands sound. Upon its release, Rabies was a controversial album that divided the fanbase of the band. Part of the controversy stemmed from the fact that a post-production mix up resulted in initial pressings of the album having a muffled sound quality to the songs. This was fixed when the album was reissued in 1993, allowing fans to hear the album as. This album was my introduction to Skinny Puppy i met a girl at church camp as a 7th grader, and she endorsed Rabies wholeheartedly. Later on, a year or so after i had found Bites on cassette and listened to it while reading 1984, other Puppy albums would eclipse Rabies as the soundtrack for sea-change in my life, but Rabies remains a classic industrial album containing seminal tracks such as Worlock, Tin Omen and Rodent. Apart from the nostalgia, i would say this is an excellent album to introduce metalheads to Puppy. The best track on Rabies by far is Worlock and my personal favorite Skinny Puppy song.
