Ricochet is the seventh major release and first album by German electronic music group Tangerine Dream which included material recorded live. It was released, on the Virgin label, in 1975. It consists of two side-long compositions mixed from studio recordings and the UK portion of their AugustOctober 1975 European Tour. The sound of the album is similar to that of the group's other Virgin Years releases, relying heavily on synthesizers and sequencers to produce a dense, ambient soundscape, but is. Tangerine Dream. RicochetLive On European Tour, 1975, Pt. 2, Steven Wilson 2018 Stereo Mix. Ricochet, by Tangerine Dream. On the night of November 14th 1940, 515 German bombers descended on the industrial city of Coventry in the west midlands of England. Their mission was to destroy the citys factories and industrial infrastructure, but nothing was sacred in the brutal carnage of World War II, including sacred places. The day after the bombing a decision was made to build a new cathedral next to the ruins, and on the 25th of May 1962 the new cathedral was consecrated as a symbol of reconciliation, deservingly hosting the premiere of Benjamin Brittens War Requiem, written for the occasion. This album finds the three at a time when they knew exactly what they were doing rocking without the drums, and looking over their shoulder to make sure the audience was still enjoying themselves. For the number of albums and soundtracks this band has put out over 50, most fans hold onto this one because it is so energetic and timeless. Songs in album Tangerine Dream - Ricochet 1975. Tangerine Dream's first official live album, Ricochet, is very much an album of two sides, each developing their recently pioneered Berlin-School sound into new directions. The first is heavy on electric guitar and percussion, for the first time since their albums on Ohr at the start of the decade, although the direction here is more focused and, combined with layers of synth and mellotron, is more in line with progressive rock than their earlier krautrock leanings. Founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese in Dream has progressed through a full three dozen lineups Froese being the only continuous member with staying power and four distinct stages of development: the experimentalist minimalism of the late '60s and early '70s stark sequencer trance during the mid- to late '70s, the group's most influential period an organic. When Tangerine Dream released their first live album, Ricochet, towards the end of 1975, the German progressive pacemakers were basking in the success of two career-shaping studio releases of the previous 18 months or so, Phaedra and Rubycon. Now was the perfect time both to let their fans relive the experience of seeing the band in concert, and to send newcomers a message about their power as a performing unit. The album went into the UK chart on 20 December that year, and although like many live albums it was a more modest seller than its predecessors, it was warmly welcomed by Tangerine D.
